There is no way in the world that I would ever be able to entertain the idea let alone actually go on a non-sugar diet; i’m just too obsessed with desserts really. Remember that funny time when my first ever blog post was about BASIC, CHEAP, HEALTHY, ANTIOXIDANT FILLED MIXED BERRY SMOOTHIES?
What the hell was I thinking? I’ve made them probably twice since that post and I don’t enjoy the shit out of them very much. I’m just that type of person that loves sugar and I do try to eat healthy when I can but we’re only human guys. I’d rather spend my life loving what I eat than struggling to force down guinea pig food. My Instagram feed is filled with need-to-go-to cafes around Brisbane and surrounding suburbs. I’ve lately endeavoured to most of these places and i’m no food critic or food blogger, but I think I had a fulfilling enough experience at these places that qualifies me to accurately give my opinion on my top 5 to-go-to sugar joints around BNE.

My all-time fave bakery that I have ever been to and number one on my list of dessert-infused foodie hangouts. I don’t really need to explain why- just head on over to their Instagram profile and let your eyes wonder.
From ice-cream sandwiches, intense thickshakes and delicious slices to tiered cakes filled with every kind of sweet you could ever imagine, Chester Street has something for everyone. They even cater for the non-sugar eaters with savoury meals and delicious mains.

WHO AGREE’S WITH US?!
This one is a little different. I’m a big believer in small businesses and this is exactly what a small business cafe should look and be like. Another difference between Blue Infusion Cafe and the rest of the foodie hangout listed in this blog post is that it is not in-fact located in Brisbane city, it can be found in North Lakes, around 30 kilometres from the heart of Brisbane.
I love this cafe because it’s relatively cheap, has great creative food and is a very light place to eat. So suitable for brunch! By the way, one of the guys that works there is incredibly good-looking; another plus, right!?

3. Pancake Manor
You can never go wrong with Pancake Manor, and I literally mean never because they’re ALWAYS open! I’ve been going here since I was about 14 and it’s the perfect cure for when you don’t know what to eat. It is particularly close to QUT’s Gardens Point campus and is in the heart of Brisbane City.

But again, like Blue Infusion Cafe, they don’t only have food for the sweet tooth’s. Pancake Manor serves breakfast, savoury dishes and mains too!

4. Le Bon Choix
This is a place that most people haven’t even heard of. I was introduced to this dessert-filled delicacy when I was interning with MaBrisbane. We would have our intern meetings here one week and then at Passion Tree the next week.

This place is filled with french desserts such as meringues, mini cheesecakes, pastries, maccrons and more!

5. Passion Tree
Another place that my internship team introduced me to was Passion Tree Cafe. This place is insane. If you’re craving sugar, this is the place to head. Located a couple of stores next to Topshop in Brisbane City, it is easily accessible and located. This place has caramel popcorn covered waffles, amazing fruit bowls, green coffee, cakes, bingsoo, honeybread, smoothies, passion soda and more!

The cafe has a great vibe with Japanese inspired art and the cutest setup. Free wifi is available, the staff are nothing but lovely and the food is always 10/10. Definitely recommend.
